The Future of Mindfulness
Statistics show that 20% of adolescents may experience a mental health problem each year. Schools are now starting to run lunch time mindfulness taster sessions for students, to help decrease stress levels and keep students calm. This may even help them to perform better in class and exams.
Medical students in the US and Australia have had mindfulness added as a core curriculum in their studies since 1988. With the developing importance of mindfulness, The University of Cambridge have now started a mindfulness course for their students in order to help combat stress.
“What we can see from very hard data is if people practise mindfulness regularly it can help them achieve focus and calm”. – Jeremy Christey, chair of the universities and colleges division of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
This growing course not only helps students, but adults too. Some businesses have sessions with staff to look after their well-being and keep them in a good state of mind. Training this in the workplace also allows employees to:
