ICB Membership Changes
The new year is known for its opportunity for change and improvement, and not just within ourselves. Businesses and organisations often use the new year as a chance to reinvent themselves or introduce something new.
At the offset of 2019, ICB (The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) introduced some changes to it Bookkeeping courses. This included changes to its course and syllabus content, as well as the membership levels.
Who are ICB?
ICB (The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) is the largest awarding body that offers recognised qualifications to prospective bookkeepers, both internationally and in the UK.
Allowing you to work within the industry, an ICB bookkeeping accreditation will help you become a qualified accountant or bookkeeper.
ICB Membership is a status and recognition symbol for bookkeeping professionals worldwide. It solidifies your qualification level and provides you with support from an international organisation.
Being a member of the ICB also provides you with access to technical advice and support from experienced bookkeeping professionals.
New Membership Levels
Previously Affiliate Membership, this type of membership can be attained once students have completed the ICB Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping. In addition, students will be able to use the relevant letters (AICB) after their name.
A possible job role for this membership level includes a supervised assistant bookkeeper.
Previously Associate Membership, this type of membership can be attained once students have completed the ICB Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping and Accounts. In addition, students will be able to use the relevant letters (MICB) after their name.
A possible job role for this membership level includes a bookkeeper up to preparation of final accounts for non-incorporated businesses – both employed and self-employed.
Due to these new changes, students can progress their memberships and become a complete ICB member quicker than before.
