Caroline Fox, Finalist – ICB Tutor of the Year
We are delighted that Senior Open Study College Tutor, Caroline Fox, has reached the finals of the ‘Tutor of the year’ category of The ICB Luca Awards. But what does this mean?
The Luca Awards are the ‘Oscars’ of the bookkeeping profession and are presented in recognition of the year’s outstanding bookkeepers and the many organisations that complement the valuable work that they do.
The Tutor of the year category will be awarded to the person who, in the opinion of ICB, most closely meets the ideals and standards expected of an ICB accredited tutor. There is an expectation that tutors will carry out their role diligently and in an open and friendly manner, but the Tutor of the year award is given to a tutor who has proved their dedication and willingness to take his or her role above and beyond the normal service.
Caroline Fox joined Open Study College since 2012 and has been our Senior Tutor since 2014. Caroline has made an invaluable difference to the students we teach as you will see from their supporting comments. Caroline’s experience has given us great insight and helped us to design and improve the way we support students.
Caroline’s main role within Open Study College is leading our team of 6 ICB Tutors, ensuring and inspiring her team to deliver student support to an exceptional standard, she won’t accept anything less. Caroline also supports many of our bookkeeping students, where she has provided and written the majority of our high quality and accredited course materials. The impressive exam results are testament to the superior quality of the materials she has provided. Overall pass rate over a 12 month period of 91%+ and students consistently achieve over the national pass rate percentages.
Her students give her glowing references for the way she has provided in depth feedback, of a high quality and in a timely manner. Caroline shows true dedication and diligence in her work as a tutor to ensure that students not only understand and pass our courses, but she helps them to unlock their full potential and achieve the best grade possible.
Caroline in a nutshell
Since winning the Tutor of the Year in 2014, Caroline has certainly not rested on her laurels. One of our key focuses in 2016 has been innovation in course delivery. In the last 12 months, our drive has been to improve the quality of both student engagement and course delivery, focusing on the quality of our training materials.
Caroline has supported over 1,500 students to successfully achieve an ICB qualification and we have not received one negative message or complaint from a student. When you consider the mix of 1,500 personalities and the pressures completing these courses that’s impressive. Caroline in a nutshell – personable, punctual and highly proficient.
“Our tutorial team are a professional and very strong team, which I am lucky to lead. I am once again very flattered to have been nominated by Open Study College. I thoroughly enjoy my work and seeing the progress my students make genuinely makes my heart sing. The success our students make each year is astonishing and when you hear about how some of their lives have changed as a result of studying with us it’s amazing. Knowing that I have played a small part in that is lovely and I always look forward to results day – I think I’m sometimes more excited that the students.” – Caroline Fox
